Paragon Speaks on Achieving Innovation at Merck Symposium

Cranford, NJ – October 27, 2011 – Paragon Solutions, an advisory consulting and systems integration firm presented key strategies to achieve innovation productivity in the life sciences industry at the  Merck Global Services IT Symposium on September14-15, 2011 in Whippany, NJ.   Themed, “Learn How You Can Innovate at Merck and Improve Healthcare,” the event offered the Merck Global Services Community a look at how Merck applies innovation and technology to address challenging scientific, manufacturing, sales, and business needs.

Paragon’s Senior Vice President of Advisory Services, Erik Raper and Vice President of Life Sciences Solutions, Ravi Shankar co-presented “Integrating Information Assets.” The presentation discussed how firms can achieve innovation by better leveraging information and proven improvements in order to reach goals such as revenue growth in new markets, launch new products and health solutions faster, and reduce operating cost structure. “The Life Sciences industry as a whole has only begun in terms of innovation productivity,” said Shankar. “As an industry, we are just starting to gain insight into how integrating information assets can achieve global breakthroughs by linking experts across organizational and geographic boundaries, sharing authoritative content and overcoming inhibitors and legal concerns. Doing so resulted in revenue growth in new markets and the launching of new products and solutions all with a lower cost structure.”

The symposium was designed to bring together technologists and innovators from across Global Services and other areas of Merck to share their knowledge, interact with over 50 focused exhibitors, and to hear how Merck is working as a Global Services organization to bring innovation and technology to address challenging scientific, manufacturing, sales, and business needs. Global Services represents all Merck’s core shared services including facilities, IT, security, shared business services that support all divisions of Merck (MRL, Manufacturing, Human Health, Biologics & Vaccines).
