Cranford, NJ – February 17, 2009 Paragon Solutions, a business and information technology consulting firm, announced today the release of a new white paper offering guidelines for Electronic Communications (EC) Supervision.

The whitepaper, entitled “A Practical Guide to EC Supervision,” reviews a section of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), a regulatory notice providing guidance regarding the review and supervision of Electronic Communications. Additionally, it discusses a newly proposed Supervision and Supervisory Controls regulation, while further analyzing practical guidelines and real risk-based processes, preparing firms for codification and compliance.

Researched and developed by Rich Diaz, Electronic Communication Compliance Subject Matter Expert, the white paper demonstrates Paragon's proven knowledge and experience with e-Compliance and Risk Management. "This white paper is an attempt to assist the financial community in applying the guidelines to practical EC supervision and maintenance as well as help them determine what they need to do to prepare before codification becomes reality," said Rich. 'It is designed to help people translate the potential rules and regulations into a day to day process."

The whitepaper reviews two of FINRA's "notices to members", NTM 07-59 and NTM 08-24 and offers guidance in six areas that would most likely ensure a lower risk approach to the supervision, surveillance and archive of a firm's Electronic Communications:

  1. Written Policies and Procedures
  2. Types of Electronic Communications Requiring Review
  3. Identification of the Person(s) Responsible for the Review of Electronic Communications
  4. Method of Review for Correspondence
  5. Frequency of the Review of Correspondence
  6. Documentation of the Review of Correspondence
