Cranford, NJ ─ June 29, 2012 – Paragon Solutions, an advisory consulting and systems integration firm, today released a statement that says it predicts an increase in information-related projects as health plan firms look to comply with the new regulations imposed by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA legislation was upheld yesterday by the Supreme Court in a much-awaited ruling on the law’s constitutionality.

“No matter which side of the aisle you identify with, we all agree that the decision to uphold The Affordable Care Act will have a ripple effect across the healthcare industry, said Michael Cloutier, vice president and insurance industry leader. “What this legislation means for the health plan companies is there will be roughly 50 million Americans who are uninsured today and will have to buy insurance or be faced with potential fines,” Cloutier said.

Paragon, a firm that specializes in providing consulting to the healthcare market throughout the U.S., points out that health plan firms have been holding the reins on spending for initiatives impacted by regulatory changes until there was a definitive decision on ACA. All that changed yesterday.

“Healthcare companies will be required to provide ‘dollar one’ coverage for preventive care and screening, which a number of folks forgo in today’s co-pay environment. As a result of this added cost, healthcare companies will continue to look for ways to reduce administrative costs associated with managed care,” added Richard Pachler, Senior vice present of Financial Services and Insurance for Paragon.
